I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I am a sucker for theme parks. With each new place I get to visit, is another opportunity for me to check off another theme park from my mental list. Of course, Japan has just the right number of spots to satisfy any addict’s craving.
Tokyo has not one, but two Disney parks located within a magical compound. These are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Now, if only we had the luxury of time and money then it would simply be a no-brainer. Why choose between the two, when you can actually visit both? But alas, we could only afford to pick one. We chose DisneySea – the only one of its kind in the world.
It was a park suited for all the water babies of the world, with two of my favorite Disney movies as part of the park – The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. As with any other Disney park, it was like being transported to a place where age really doesn’t matter. You can be an adult sporting some Mickey ears and no one would really mind.
We spent the entire day from park opening up until about 30 minutes to closing time (to avoid the people traffic) just exploring and being kids again. Needless to say, it was a great first full day in Tokyo.
PS. Some tips:
- Wear comfy clothes – if you’re visiting in the summer like us – wear thin-clothed shirts, shorts and comfy shoes.
- Make sure to secure a map and check out the rides you’d like to try so you can make a schedule for your day.
- Fast Passes are free but are time-constrained, so follow your ride schedule and know what to prioritize for the Fast Pass.
- Rides to try: Tower of Terror (my fave!), Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull, Raging Spirits, Journey to the Center of the Earth
